The Body as Landscape

Camille Raséra is a Butoh performer who was trained by artists such as Masaki Iwana and Moeno Wakamatsu. Her performance work is based on a deep attunement to space and the movements of consciousness.

"When a phenomenon becomes perceptible to consciousness, the two become one (consciousness and the phenomenon). I am the phenomenon; the phenomenon enhances my existence, and I enhance its own. And yet, at the same time, I am the one who observes. I postulate a consciousness that must perish and be reborn at every moment in order to welcome the phenomenon without presupposing or interpreting it."

As a butoh performer, she is active on the Belgian scene (Théâtre de la vie, Tic tac Art

Center, L’Armande, Artist Commons), but also internationally (France, Japan, New York). She is a member of La sombre compagnie, one of the companies working to develop Butoh on the Brussels scene.

About the classes

After a warm-up combining somatic experiences and dynamic exercises, we will explore questions such as:
– Can the body come together while being composed of billions of different points?
– Can the body come into friction with space while aligning with it?
– Is touch an impossible form of contact?
– Is the direction of desire reinforced by the obstruction of that desire?
– Is it consciousness that focuses on the phenomenon, or is it the phenomenon that arises in consciousness?
– Is there a balance between let it come and go toward ?

We will work with our bodies in a very precise way so that the body becomes a channel to inner landscapes.
